June 8-18, 2019. We flew into Porta Delgada on Sao Miguel Island on June 8, then took an inter-island flight out to Faial. We stayed several days in Horta at a harborside hotel and from our little balcony we enjoyed daily views of Mt. Pico on the nearby island of Pico. We spent a whole day touring Pico with a guide before returning to Horta for two more days, one of which we enjoyed taking in a whale watch. Next, we returned to Porta Delgada for the remainder of our Azores vacation and explored the highlights of the island with another full-day tour, including a nice visit to Terra Nostra Park, in Furnas, with a guide who was knowledgeable and fun to be with.
